Poll shows Yair Lapid hitting Kadima

An opinion poll conducted by "Panels" for the Knesset TV channel found that a party headed by Lapid would win 20 mandates, if elections were held today.

An opinion poll conducted over the past 24 hours by "Panels" for the Knesset TV channel found that a new party headed by Yair Lapid would win 20 mandates if elections were held today.

The survey found that Lapid's gains would mainly be at the expense of opposition party Kadima, led by Tsipi Livni, which would only win nine seats, down from its current 28 seats. However, if the Kadima party was led by Lapid it would win 32 seats in Knesset elections.

The poll also found that: the ruling Likud would win 29 seats, up from 27; Yisrael Beitenu would win 13 seats, down from 15; Shas would win 8 seats, down from 11; and Labor would win 12, down from 13 including Ehud Barak's breakaway Atzmaut party.
