Elbit Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: ESLT; TASE: ESLT) has announced that it has won a contract from the Australian Defense Force (ADF) for the supply of Battle Management Systems (BMS) for the Royal Australian Navy's landing craft. The company said that the contract is for an amount that is not material to Elbit Systems.
The systems are to be integrated into landing craft installed on board the Canberra Class Amphibious ships. The watercraft will enable transport of troops and equipment from the ships to the shore including coastal locations with no fixed port facilities. The craft will also allow communication and connectivity with infantry forces in joint operations.
Elbit Systems has been supplying its battle management systems to the Australian Army under the defense network-centric "Land 75/125" Program, one of the largest battle management systems programs in the world.
Elbit Systems' Land and C4I Division general manager Bezhalel (Butzi) Machlis said, "The fact that the Australian Defense Force, one of the most advanced and modern armies in the world, has decided to also equip its Navy with our Battle Management Systems, attests to its satisfaction with the quality and maturity of our systems."
He added: "This decision also reflects the need of world leading armies to enhance the connectivity and communication between their divisions, and we trust that additional customers will follow and select our advanced Battle Management Systems."
