Spectronix, Orbit announce defense deals

Spectronix has won a $2.6 million follow-on contract with the US Marines, while Orbit has won a NIS 7.6 million deal with an Asian country.

Spectronix Ltd. (TASE: SPCT) has won a $2.6 million order for the installation of vehicle fire and explosion suppressions systems with the US Marines.

This is a follow-on order to one of a similar amount that Spectronix received three months ago. The company said it believed that "the US Army has a need for thousands more tools of this kind as well as the budget with which to procure them." It added that "the company is taking part in additional projects for the US Army, as well as European and NATO member countries, and progress in these projects is likely to increase the company's projected sales and activity in the defense field."

Orbit Technology Group (TASE:ORBI), which develops and produces satellite and avionics communications systems, tracking solutions, and testing systems for microwave wireless equipment announced that its subsidiary has won a contract worth NIS 7.6 million for the provision of a data communications tracking system to the defense ministry of an unnamed Asian country.

Orbit Technology president and CEO Shlomo Yariv said, "Tracking is the company's traditional line of business and it constitutes the technological infrastructure for satellite communications systems, mobile platforms for marine vehicles, trains and others."

Earlier in the month, Orbit's US subsidiary, Orbit/FR (Nasdaq: ORFR.OB), won a contract worth NIS 6.3 million for the supply of microwave testing systems for vehicles.
