Solel Boneh wins first Kfar Saba-Herzliya road tender

Solel Boneh won the tender with a NIS 55 million bid to build the Jaljulya Interchange on Road 531 within 21 months.

Sources inform ''Globes'' that Shikun u'Binui Solel Boneh Building and Infrastructure Ltd. has won the first design and build tender by Israel National Roads Company Ltd. tender to build a section of lateral Road 531. Solel Boneh, a subsidiary of Shari Arison-controlled Shikun u'Binui Holdings Ltd. (TASE: SKBN), beat 20 companies in the tender.

Solel Boneh won the tender with a NIS 55 million bid to build the Jaljulya Interchange within 21 months.

The Roads Company has published two of the six design and build tenders for the 15-kilometer Road 531 project between Road 6 (Yitzhak Rabin Highway) by Kfar Saba in the east and Road 2 Coastal Highway) north of Herzliya. The project includes laying a parallel railway, extending Road 20 (Ayalon Highway) north to Kibbutz Shefayim, and laying a pipeline for Mekorot National Water Company. The total estimated cost of the project is NIS 3-4 billion.

Shafir Civil and Marine Engineering Ltd., which won the original tender, lost its franchise to build Road 531 in February 2010, after it was unable to secure financing during the global financial crisis.
