Jeremy Levin: Teva will do more amazing things

The new CEO says Teva is positioned to exploit opportunities in a way that almost no other company in the world can.

"What a joy it is to stand at the head of a such a big company in the country I love," Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Nasdaq: TEVA; TASE: TEVA) president and CEO Dr. Jeremy Levin said at the ILSI Biomed 2012 National Life Sciences and Technology Week conference today, in his first public appearance since taking up his post earlier this month.

Levin spoke about the huge opportunities for Israel in the coming years, which he believes can turn the country into a global player in the life sciences and pharmaceuticals industries. "The global environment is undergoing major changes. The population is aging. In the developed world, we're seeing a major change in how diseases spread. There is also a change in health costs. In 1950, 5% of the population was over 65 and 65% was 15-65. Every year, a million people are added to the aged population, which, looking ahead, will also affect economies."

"If you're static, you'll stay behind," said Levin. "Teva is positioned to exploit opportunities in the pharmaceutical market in a way that almost no other company in the world can. Teva is a strong company that has done good things in the past, and will do more amazing things in the future."
