Israel Chemicals jumps on Potash Corp. results

Potash Corp.'s investments in Israel Chemicals, Jordan's Arab Potash Co., and Chile's SQM contributed $28.6 million to its fourth quarter profit.

Israel Chemicals Ltd. (TASE: CHIM) rose 5.3% by mid-afternoon today following the financial report published by Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan Inc. (NYSE; TSX: POT). Potash Corp. posted a net profit of $376.8 million for the fourth quarter of 2007, more than double its profit of $186 million for the corresponding quarter of 2006.

Potash Corp. noted that its holdings in Israel Chemicals, Jordan's Arab Potash Company (APC), and Chile's Sociedad Quimica y Minera de Chile SA (NYSE; Santiago: SQM) contributed $28.6 million to its fourth quarter profit.
