Alvarion signs follow-on Danish contract

Alvarion and ECI will expand ELRO's WiMAX network.

Alvarion (Nasdaq: ALVR; TASE: ALVR) and ECI Telecom are continuing their collaboration with the announcement today that they signed a follow-on contract with Danish broadband communications provider ELRO Amro to expand its nationwide mobile WiMAX network, increasing coverage and capacity for voice and broadband Internet services. Alvarion did not disclose the size of the contract, but market sources believe it is large and that Alvarion's share will total $20 million.

Alvarion president and CEO Tzvika Friedman said, "By choosing a WiMAX solution based on ECI’s integrated WiMAX and transport network, coupled with our BreezeMAX platform, ELRO will be able to quickly connect the residents of Denmark with high speed broadband access.”

Alvarion signed its first contract with ELRO in July, together with ECI and wireless backhaul systems provider Ceragon Networks Ltd. (Nasdaq: CRNT; TASE:CRNT).

Alvarion rose 3% in early trading on Nasdaq to $3.09. The share fell 3.2% on the TASE to NIS 40.13.
