Elbit Systems' EFW awarded $57m US Army contract

EFW will supply aviator night vision imaging system/heads up display for utility helicopters.

Elbit Systems (Nasdaq: ESLT; TASE: ESLT) announced today that its US-based subsidiary EFW Inc. has been awarded a $57 million framework contract by the US government to supply aviator night vision imaging system/heads up display (ANVIS/HUD) for US Army utility helicopters and other US Department of Defense (DOD) rotary-wing platforms.

Under the indefinite delivery / indefinite quantity contract (IDIQ) contract, which will cover up to a five-year period, the US Army may place purchase orders with EFW for ANVIS/HUD systems from time to time for up to $57 million, the aggregate amount of contract.

The ANVIS/HUD system allows the pilot to fly “head out of the cockpit” during night operations and projecting critical flight information into the night vision goggles’ view.

This system has been in operational use by US Army, US Navy / Marines and USAF rotary wing pilots since the mid 1990’s and is installed on most of these utility and special operations helicopter fleet platforms, including the H-60, CH-53 CH-47, CH-46, H-1, V-22 and others.

EFW, part of Elbit Systems of America, also supplies the integrated helmet and display sighting system (IHADSS) used to provide US Army Apache attack helicopter pilots with helmet mounted night vision, flight data, and weapons targeting information.

Additionally, EFW with Vision Systems International, LLC (VSI), a joint venture between EFW and Rockwell Collins (NYSE:COL), provides the joint helmet mounted cueing system (JHMCS) used in fixed wing fighter aircraft in the US and other allied countries and is under contract to supply the highly advanced head mounted display (HMD) system for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program.

EFW provides systems for various weapon platforms for US and allied military forces. EFW is a Gold supplier to Boeing and a valued Team Apache Member.
