Chip PC wins thin client computer order

The firm will supply the German tax authority with tens of thousands of computers.

Chip PC (Israel) Ltd. (TASE:CPPC) has won a NIS 15 million tender to supply its thin client computers and management software to the German federal tax authority. 80% of the order will be supplied by the end of this year, and the rest by March 2008.

It is not possible to download private programs onto a thin client computer, which means that only programs used by the enterprise are present. Chip PC’s computers operate in a server-based environment, and are an alternative to standard network-linked PCs, which are vulnerable to viruses and other security threats, such as Trojan horses.

Chip PC said that the win in Germany was a breakthrough that positions the company as a technology leader in its field. The win can potentially lead to many other contracts.

Chip PC recently raised NIS 26 million stocks, bonds, and warrants in its IPO. The company collaborates with Dell Inc. (Nasdaq:DELL), which distributes its products. The company also collaborates with Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq:MSFT), msystems and other companies. Customers include utilities companies, the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Defense, Bezeq The Israeli Telecommunication Co. Ltd. (TASE: BEZQ), Lufthansa, and Epson. 92% of production is exported.
