JedEyes help pilots sharpen focus

Elbit Systems has introduced a new helmet mounted display.

Defense electronics firm Elbit Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: ESLT; TASE: ESLT) recently introduced JedEyes, a highly advanced, exceptionally powerful helmet mounted display (HMD), designed especially to meet Apache and other rotary wing platform requirements.

JedEyes are geared to address the special needs of helicopter pilots. The system is fully operational in day, night and brownout flight environments. With the emphasis on increased flight safety and situational awareness, JedEyes’ ultra-wide FOV allows pilots to see wide expanses in high resolution with obstacles in sharp focus. It also diminishes vertigo occurrences. Pilots can super-impose obstacle symbology onto the HMD view so they can be forewarned in ample distance and time

The system is designed for U.S. helmet shell compatibility and is compatible with Apache Block III, MC, MTADS and IHADSS21 systems.

Elbit Systems shares ended 2007 at $59.56 on Nasdaq, reflecting a market cap of $2.43 billion.
