Vringo sponsors "World's Tiniest Film Festival"

The video ringtone firm is one of a large contingent of Israeli firms at Barcelona's GSMA Mobile World Congress.

One of the 60 Israeli firms at the 2008 GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona is Beit Shemesh-based Vringo Ltd.. Between February 11 and 14 the video ringtone start-up will sponsor the "World’s Tiniest Film Festival ". The project is actually a contest created by Vringo for the tiny video screen of a mobile phone. During the Mobile World Congress, conference attendees will have a chance to win one of three 32-inch flat-screen TVs (one each day) by recording a 15-second “Vringo” video ringtone. The firm also opened the contest to users who are not at the conference, via a link on its home page. "We've always heard that size doesn't matter", said Vringo co-founder and CEO Jon Medved. "But now I can announce that when talking about the cellular world, size does matter the small screen of cellular devices." Medved added, with regard to the firm's contest, "Think very, very short, and you can win big". Vringo develops software to create video ringtones for mobile devices. Vringo raised $12 milion, from Warburg Pincus Private Equity and private investors, in its first funding round in July of 2007.
