Hewlett Packard Co. (NYSE:HPQ) is expanding its printer production outlay in Israel. The company today announced that it will built a factory to manufacture wide-format printers in the Caesarea industrial zone at an investment of NIS 15 million. The factory will employ about 100 persons.
HP already has two manufacturing plants for printers in Israel, one in Ness Ziona and the other in Kiryat Gat. HP has invested $5.7 billion in Israel to date, including the acquisitions of Indigo, Scitex Vision, Mercury, and Nur Macroprinters Ltd. (Pink Sheets:NURMF), and currently has about 4,000 Israeli employees.
HP said that the factory would initially have 4,000 square meters in production space, which will later be expanded. The buildings will have 13,000 square meters altogether, including offices over the production floor. The company added that most of its R&D and manufacturing of digital printers, including wide-format printers, was concentrated in Israel.
