Energy-saving lighting developer Metrolight has been named company of the year by the American-Israel Chamber of Commerce (AICC). The award was announced at the AICC's community flagship event, the Eagle Star Awards Gala. The ceremony, sponsored by Delta and held in Atlanta, honored people and companies who have contributed to business relations between the Southeast US and Israel.
Metrolight's energy savings solutions for HID lighting systems are installed in major applications in the US and around the world. According the company, since its invention, the technology has proven energy-efficiency for over 1.4 billion operating hours, and has saved end users over $6.5 million in energy costs. Metrolight’s patented lighting technology saves cold storage facilities, warehouses, municipalities, and distribution centers as much as 65% in annual lighting costs.
Metrolight President and CEO Igal Zamir said, “It is a real honor to be recognized as the Company of the Year." Zamir added that "HID lighting consumes approximately 6% of the total energy production in the US" and that the firm's technology saves up to 65% of energy costs.
Netanya-based Metrolight is a portfolio company of Israel Cleantech Ventures. Its US headquarters are in Tennessee.
