Israeli start-ups in India road show

The tour is in cooperation with Indian content giant Shemaroo.

The Israel Mobile and Communications Association (IMA) has launched a collaboration with Indian content provider Shemaroo to expose Israeli telecommunications technology and start-ups to Indian cellular operators. IMA CEO Eyal Reshef and Shemaroo CEO Jai Maroo and director Hiren Gada announced the collaboration at a press conference in Mumbai. Israeli start-ups Cellbrite Mobile Synchronization Ltd., ITS, and Pudding Media Ltd. were present.

Reshef said, "Our collaboration with Shemaroo is unique. This is the first time that we're offering cellular operators Israeli products that combine multimedia content and entertainment customized to the target audience and needs of this market. For example, products such as Clip in Touch Ltd. and Vringo using Shemaroo's popular entertainment content will be presented to Indian operators."

The press conference was the opening event of a joint IMA-Shemaroo road show during which six Israeli start-ups will hold business meetings with executives from Indian operators Aircel Cellular Ltd., Bharti Airtel Ltd. (BSE: 532454), BPL Mobile Ltd., Spice Communications Ltd. (BSE: 532863), Idea Cellular Ltd. (532822), Reliance Communications Ltd. (BSE:532712), Tata, and Vodafone Essar Ltd.. These companies have 240 million cellular subscribers between them.

Shemaroo has distributed digital content for two years and developed innovative capability to aggregate and harmonize entertainment content. Maroo said, "The collaboration with IMA is strategically important for us. Israel is a hothouse of cellular technology innovation and entrepreneurship, and we're pleased to bring this innovation to the Indian cellular market."
