Infogin wins GMSA innovation award

The firm's mobile Internet platform will compete for the GSMA prize at the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Infogin Ltd. yesterday won the GSMA Mobile Innovation Global Awards Most Innovative Carrier Infrastructure award. In February, Infogin will go to the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, where it will compete against its peers from other countries in GSMA's competition aimed at promoting cellular technology worldwide.

Infogin's platform automatically converts websites to handset platforms in real time by analyzing the content and adapting it to the limitations of the cellular telephone. The platform is based on a server that supports all cellular browsers, languages, and webpage features.

Infogin recently signed a strategic agreement with Microsoft Corporation (Nasdaq: MSFT), which will use the company's platform on its Mobile Live Search engine. Infogin's platform will convert the websites surfers enter via the Mobile Live Search through their handsets. Operators using Infogin's platform include Israel's Pelephone Communications Ltd. and Cellcom Israel Ltd. (NYSE:CEL; TASE:CEL), Dutch Royal KPN NV (NYSE: KPN; LSE: KPN), Mobilkom Austria Group, and Slovenia's si.mobil Vodafone.

After yesterday's win, Infogin chairman and CEO Eran Wyler told "Globes", "The work has been hard along the way, and getting encouragement like this makes you feel good."
