NICE wins Canadian airline customer

WestJet Airlines has selected the NICE SmartCenter and IEX TotalView.

NICE Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: NICE; TASE: NICE) will provide its SmartCenter to Canadian low-cost airline WestJet Airlines Inc. (TSX: WJA) to manage its workforce and performance. NICE did not disclose the size of the deal. WestJet is based in Calgary.

The deal is through NICE subsidiaryIEX Corporation. The IEX TotalView system will improve WestJet's forecasting and scheduling processes, improving the airline's efficiency, lower communications costs, and increase agent empowerment, among other returns.

IEX president Debbie May said that combination of the IEX TotalView and the Performance Manager solution "demonstrates the added value of tight integration between workforce management and performance management while highlighting the growing market trend toward selecting vendor-developed solutions instead of developing in house."

NICE acquired IEX in 2006 for $200 million in cash.
