One in four Israelis is poor

Israel's poverty rate is 2.5 times the OECD average.

An international poverty report says that the poverty rate is Israel is higher than in the West. One of four Israelis is defined as poor. Israel's poverty rate is 2.5 times the OECD average.

Israel's poverty rate of 24.5% is higher than the 18% rates in both Mexico and Turkey. The US poverty rate is 17%, Spain's is 14%, and France's is 7%.
