Security video co DVtel fires seven, cuts salaries

"2008 ended well, but we're preparing for the future, and we expect 2009 to be a difficult year."

iSOC (Intelligent Security Operations Center) developer DVtel Inc. yesterday fired seven employees at its R&D center in Herzliya and cut the salaries of its remaining employees by 5%. The company has 150 worldwide, including 60 in Israel. The company laid off four Israeli employees in November.

Since 2000, New Jersey-based DVtel has been developing closed-circuit video security systems for the homeland security market.

DVtel R&D president Adina Enden said, "2008 ended well, but we're preparing for the future, and we expect 2009 to be a difficult year, as it is for everyone. We're therefore preparing in advance, so that we can meet the coming year in good shape."

Enden added, "Our sales increased last year, and we're in a very strong market."
