Delek unit gets additional private power license

Delek Infrastructures was the first company in Israel to build and operate a private power plant.

The Ministry of National Infrastructures has awarded Delek Group Ltd. (TASE: DLEKG) subsidiary Delek Infrastructures Ltd. an additional private power license for its planned 60-megawatt plant in Midgal Ha'emek.

Delek Infrastructures owns 57% of the venture, IPP Delek Ramat Gabriel Ltd., while Sigma Epsilon Power Engineering Ltd. and Adi Energy Ltd. own the rest. The $60 million power plant will run on natural gas to generate steam and byproducts. Delek has already signed a contract to sell electricity to textiles manufacturer Nilit Ltd. Surplus power will be sold to other factories and to Israel Electric Corporation (IEC) (TASE: ELEC.B22).

Delek Infrastructures was the first company in Israel to build and operate a private power plant - an 87-megawatt plant at the Ashkelon desalination plant, owned by VID Desalination Ltd., in which Delek is a partner.
