Allot gets order from major mobile operator

IP service optimization solutions developer Allot Communications Ltd. (Nasdaq:ALLT) has signed a framework agreement with an international tier-1 cellular operator. The company did not disclose the name of the customer, but said that it received $5 million in initial orders.

Allot said that this was the largest deployment of its Allot Service Gateway to date. The customer is installing the system with local operators in several countries, which have more than 60 million subscribers altogether.

Allot president and CEO Rami Hadar said, "This deal has the potential to significantly change the way the mobile market offers subscriber services. Mobile broadband is growing beyond the industry's wildest expectations."

Allot's share fell 2% on Friday to $3.83, giving a market cap of $84 million.

The company will publish its financial report for the second quarter on Wednesday. The analysts' consensus is for a non-GAAP loss per share of $0.03 on $9.4 million revenue.

Last month, Allot published its first inaugural Global Mobile Broadband Traffic Report (GMBT), in which it stated that worldwide mobile data bandwidth usage grew 30% during the second quarter of 2009. Asia leads the growth with 36%; Europe posted 28% growth and the Americas 25%. The report tracks global IP application usage and growth, based on collated from leading mobile operators worldwide with a combined user base of more than 150 million subscribers.
