NeoPharm bids for UK drug company Goldshield

The Fuhrer family is prepared to pay NIS 1.8 billion for the British generic drug supplier.

The Fuhrer family, which owns Israeli drug distributor NeoPharm Medical Supplies Ltd., is bidding to buy UK pharmaceutical company Goldshield Group plc (LSE: GSD:L). Sources inform "Globes" that the Fuhrers are prepared to pay NIS 1.8 billion.

Goldshield was founded in the early 1990s by Ajit Patel and reports suggest that the Fuhrers have recruited him in their attempts to buy control of the company, which produces and markets generic drugs, OTC products and food additives.

Over the years Goldshield has made many acquisitions of unique generic products from major international companies like Proctor & Gamble, GFK and others and today has a portfolio of 100 products.

The company's annual sales are about ₤100 million with an EBITDA of ₤28 million.

The Fuhrer family refused to comment on these reports.
