Housing Ministry brings 6,000 apts to market

Housing Minister Ariel Atias: Big waves and small lots. By this method we'll create a market of thousands of apartments into the struggle against the land shortage.

The Ministry of Housing and Construction and the Israel Land Administration (ILA) this week launched the marketing of land zoned for 5,859 apartments in 20 towns nationwide through public tenders. This is the second bloc of tenders marketed as part of Minister of Housing and Construction Ariel Atias' policy to boost the housing supply and lower prices. Part of the objective is to make homes affordable for young couples.

In September, the ILA marketed land zoned for 5,400 apartments

The current sales include lots zoned for 1,117 apartments in Jerusalem, 842 apartments in Rehovot, 358 apartments in Holon, 349 apartments in Rishon LeZion, and 188 apartments in Tel Aviv.

Atias said, "Big waves and small lots. By this method we'll create a market of thousands of apartments in a single act, pump new and real air into the struggle against the shortage of land, and we'll also enable small contractors to bid for lots in order to lower housing prices in Israel."
