Thu: Givot snaps back with 43% gain

Teva ended higher after yesterday's acquisition of a firm in Peru.

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) rose today. The Tel Aviv 25 Index rose 0.48% to 1,122.69 points, the Tel Aviv 100 Index rose 0.58% to 1,037.47 points, and the Tel-Tech Index rose 1.17% to 229.88 points. Turnover was NIS 1.73 billion.

The Tel Aviv 25 Index fell 0.4% for the week, but is up 0.5% since the beginning of the year.

In the bond market, long-term Shahar unlinked government bonds fell by up to 0.2%, and long-term Galil CPI-linked bonds fell by up to 0.3%. The corporate bond benchmark Tel-Bond 20 Index fell 0.11%.

In the foreign currency market, the shekel-dollar representative exchange rate rose 1.56% to NIS 3.656/$, and the shekel-euro representative exchange rate rose 1.77% to NIS 5.018/€, after Minister of Finance Yuval Steinitz announced plans to cancel the tax exemption for nonresidents on profits from transactions in Treasury bills (makams) and short-term government bonds.

In the stock market, Tamar partner Isramco Ltd. (Nasdaq: ISRL; TASE: ISRA.L) rose 4.2% for the biggest gain among Tel Aviv 25 shares.

Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Nasdaq: TEVA; TASE: TEVA) rose 2.5% on the day's largest turnover of NIS 307 million, after announcing the acquisition of a Peruvian company yesterday. Perrigo Company (Nasdaq:PRGO; TASE:PRGO) fell 0.2%, after rising 4.6% yesterday.

Israel Chemicals Ltd. (TASE: ICL) rose 2.5%. Commenting on the guidance published by rival and shareholder Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. (NYSE; TSX: POT) as part of its financial report, Migdal Capital Markets said, "The guidance does not suggest a substantial upside for Israel Chemicals at its current price."

Givot Olam Oil Exploration LP (TASE:GIVO.L) rose 43.6%, after providing new updates on its Meged 5 well, recouping most of yesterday's 52.4% plunge, which followed the halt in drilling at the well.

Africa-Israel Investments Ltd. (TASE:AFIL) rose another 8.5% today, after rising 6% yesterday.
