Hi-G-Tek to supply $1m of systems to US gov't

Hi-G-Tek partnered with US company TransCore in the Department of Homeland Security tender to supply an electronic supervision system for cargo entering the US.

Israeli start-up Hi-G-Tek will supply the US government its Electronic Seals and RF Identification Electronic Tags for containers for use on shipping lines to the US. The company won a Department of Homeland Security tender published under Operation Safe Commerce, for protecting cargo from terrorist attacks.

Hi-G-Tek develops remote wireless electronic seals, tags, and reporting systems. The company's systems provide real-time wireless identification up to a distance of several hundred meters, and uses radio, satellite, or cellular communications systems to send the data to command and control centers. The system was supported by a Israel-United States Binational Industrial Research and Development Foundation (BIRD-F) grant.

Hi-G-Tek partnered with US company TransCore in the tender to supply an electronic supervision system for cargo entering the US. TransCore is a member of a consortium that includes Lockheed-Martin (NYSE:LMT) that won the $60 million tender. Hi-G-Tek's share in the tender is about $1 million.

Founded in 1998 by president and CEO Micha Auerbach, Hi-G-Tek has 30 employees. Its shareholders are Auerbach, along with US and Canadian industrialists.
