NDS, SES Americom to deliver secure IPTV

NDS has signed a contract with SES Americom, the leading satellite broadcast provider in North America.

Digital pay-TV solutions provider NDS Group plc (Nasdaq: NNDS; Euronext:NNDS) has signed a contract with SES Americom, the leading satellite broadcast provider in North America. NDS will provide its Synamedia to SES Americom to support its IP-Prime system for watching encrypted IPTV programs. The companies did not disclose the size of the contract.

NDS Synamedia is a secure IP solution for two-way IPTV network services. SES Americom’s IP-Prime is a centralized, satellite delivered IPTV system that enables wireline communications operators to bundle traditional standard and HD television broadcasts on a single line with their voice and Internet services.

The system makes it possible for wireline communications operators to provide premium services television programming. SES Americom will transmit on this platform up to 300 channels encoded into MPEG-4 compression standard and H.264 standard, giving wireline communications operators and effective and stable broadcast channel.

NDS said, “The Synamedia solution, integrated with NDS VideoGuard content protection and digital rights management, will offer SES Americom a secure platform for delivery of multi-channel pay-television and video-on-demand (VOD) services to customers with a broadband IP connection.”
