MediGuide wins EU certification for guidance system

The company hopes to win FDA approval in 2008.

MedGuide Ltd. has obtained EU CE Mark certification for its medical position system (MPS) and MPS enabled guided measurement catheter (GMC). The MPS system is a innovative tracking and navigation system designed to be used in minimally invasive coronary procedures.

MediGuide president and CEO Dr. Gera Strommer said that he hopes that the company will obtain US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for its products during 2008.

MediGuide is a spin-off of Elbit Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: ESLT; TASE: ESLT), set up to develop the company's navigation technology for medical purposes. According to IVC Online, MediGuide, has raised $6 million to date from Vitalife Life Sciences Venture, Docor International Management, Fishman Holdings, Boston Scientific Inc. (NYSE:BSX), and Philips Medical Systems.
