WiMAX solutions developer Alvarion Ltd. (Nasdaq: ALVR; TASE: ALVR) has completed a turnkey deployment for its WiMAX Forum certified 4Motion end-to-end solution with Orange Botswana. Alvarion did not disclose the size of the deal.
Alvarion deployed its solution in Botswana's two largest cities, the capital, Gaberone, and Francistown. The WiMAX deployments were completed in Gaberone in June 2008 and in Francistown in November.
Botswana, which mostly comprises the Kalahari Desert, has a population of less than two million, and an Internet penetration of just 4%.
Alvarion's share fell 2.4% on Nasdaq yesterday to $3.31. The share was unchanged at the opening on the TASE today at NIS 13.89.
