Alvarion plans layoffs

The company employs 890 people. Most of the layoffs will be in Israel.

WiMAX developer Alvarion (Nasdaq: ALVR; TASE: ALVR) plans cutbacks that include laying off some 50 employees, most of them in Israel.

The company employs 890 people. At present it does not intend to close any divisions, but only to reduce its headcount.

Alvarion said in response to the report that it constantly examined structural changes in line with market conditions.

Alvarion provides wireless broadband solutions, focusing on WiMAX technology. It is traded in both Tel Aviv and New York, with a market cap of $190 million.
