Eurocom sells 8,000 Nokia 6680 handsets in 10 days

CEO Ilan Greenboim: We expect to win 70% of Israel’s 3G GSM market by the end of 2005.

Eurocom Cellular Communications CEO Ilan Greenboim today announced that the company had sold 8,000 Nokia 6680 handsets in the ten days since Partner Communications Co. Ltd. (Nasdaq: PTNR; TASE:PTNR; LSE:PCCD) began marketing them. Eurocom Cellular Communications is the Israeli representative of Nokia (NYSE; LSE; HEX:NOK), and is now planning to import tens of thousands more handsets.

Greenboim said the Nokia 6680 was a major boost for mass 3G use. “In view of the huge marketing success of these telephones in the ten days since the launch, we’ve revised our guidance. We now expect to sell 50,000 3G handsets, and win a 70% share of Israel’s 3G GSM market by the end of 2005.”
