Israeli co Polytiv wins $1m Palestinian greenhouse tender

The US government is financing the tender.

Israeli company A.A. Polytiv (1999) Ltd. has won a Palestinian Authority (PA) tender to supply covers for new greenhouses it plans to build in the Gaza Strip. The contract is worth an estimated $1 million.

Polytiv is a leading manufacturer of polyethylene covers. It is believed that the present contract will greatly expand, as the number of Palestinian greenhouses in the areas increases.

The tender is mainly for the delivery of agricultural inputs to the Gaza Strip, but also includes plastic covers for greenhouses, irrigation equipment, pesticides, and anti-pest nets. The US government is financing the tender. It has transferred $28 million to the PA, of which $2.5 million for the purchase of plastics products by the end of 2005.

Polytiv has delivered 140 tons of the 400-ton order, with the rest scheduled for delivery to the PA by September 25.
