Chromagen to expand activity in Spain

New legislation in Spain has triggered a sharp increase in sales of solar water heating systems.

Israeli solar systems manufacturer Chromagen Ltd. is expanding its activities in Spain, in the wake of a new law in Spain requiring the installation of solar-powered water heating systems in every new building. Chromagen will increase its sales to Spain by 30% this year to NIS 45 million from NIS 35 million in 2005. The company has operations in 30 countries.

Chromagen general manager Hagai Shefer said the company had prepared in advance for the new legislation in Spain, and had launched a new thermosyphonic solar system that will comply with Spanish regulations, with easy installation, maximum energy utilization and minimum heat loss. He added that the company had conducted a market survey which revealed that 700,000 new properties are built every year in Spain, and that the rise in energy and fuel prices in Israel and other countries had increased the demand for solar-powered heating systems.
