Fired Boston Scientific exec: Competitors smearing me

Yair Yahav: I never contravened company procedures.

Yair Yahav, who was fired last week after serving for 10 months as cardiology unit manager in Israel of Boston Scientific (NYSE: BSX), has made his first public comment on his sacking. He said he would be seeking a hearing with the company’s head office and insisted that he never contravened company procedures.

”The information that was forwarded to head office was a concoction of baseless facts and lies,” he said, adding that Boston Scientific Israel manager Efi Shnaidman and the regional vice president had opposed his sacking. Yahav is demanding that his dismissal be suspended pending the outcome of the disciplinary hearing he will face, and has recruited media adviser Shlomo Perez to help him clear his name.

Yahav blamed competitors in the field, whom he claims felt threatened by his success in capturing a substantial segment of the stent market during the 10 months he served in his post. He has worked in the industry for 12 years, six of them at Johnson & Johnson Israel (one of Boston Scientific Israel’s main competitors).

Boston Scientific Israel and Efi Shnaidman declined to comment.
