Given Imaging's PillCam gets reimbursement in Israel

The approval by Israel's Ministry of Health is for patients with iron deficiency anemia as a result of obscure gastrointestinal bleeding or suspected Crohn's disease.

At last, honor in its own country: Given Imaging (Nasdaq: GIVN; TASE: GIVN) of Yokne'am has announced that Israel's Ministry of Health has approved reimbursement for its PillCam capsule endoscopy device. The approval is for patients with iron deficiency anemia as a result of obscure gastrointestinal bleeding as well as for suspected Crohn's disease.

"We are pleased that the Israeli Ministry of Health has recognized PillCam SB's value in helping gastroenterologists diagnose diseases of the small bowel and anticipate additional national coverage decisions will follow," said Given Imaging president and CEO Homi Shamir.

The PillCam SB capsule is a naturally ingested method for direct visualization of the entire small intestine. It is currently marketed in the US and in more than 50 other countries. The PillCam ESO video capsule, which provides visual examination of the esophagus, has been cleared for marketing by the FDA.
