Among the charges: abuse of helpless patients, aggravated assault and negligent homicide
The Israel Police National Fraud Unit today arrested four senior doctors at the Kaplan Medical Center in Rehovot and the Herzfeld Geriatric Medical Center in Gedera on suspicion of conducting medical experiments on hundreds of elderly patients. The experiments were illegal and conducted without the patients’ consent.
The doctors are suspected of abusing helpless patients, aggravated assault, negligent homicide, fraud, forgery, breach of their statutory duty, and obstruction of justice. The police investigators searched the doctors’ homes and seized various documents. The four doctors have been brought before the Tel Aviv Magistrates Court for remand.
