A 23-member delegation from Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq: MSFT), of which 18 are vice presidents and business unit managers is to visit Israel this week. The delegation will be hosted by Microsoft corporate VP, Israel R&D Moshe Lichtman.

Microsoft said that the goal of the visit was to “deepen the familiarity of Microsoft’s executives with the technological capabilities, business environment, and potential of the Israel high-tech sector.” The delegation is due to meet members of the academia, entrepreneurs and investors in the local high-tech industry. Israel is the first stop in the delegation’s, which will also take it to India, China, and other countries.

This is the first such visit since Microsoft announced last April that it would be expanding its activity in Israel. In addition to the appointment of Lichtman, the company said it would open a second R&D center in the central region, and it has acquired three companies since Lichtman took up his post.
