Sialo completes new device trial

The company's latest product is a tiny camera that displays images from inside a tooth.

Medical device company Sialo Technology Israel Ltd. (TASE: SALO), which develops and markets devices for the treatment of salivary gland stones, announced today that it has completed the trial of a new endoscopic device for use in root canal treatment. The trial was conducted on 15 patients and has been declared a success, although this will not be official until the reports on the long-term results of the procedure are released at the end of the follow-up period in six months time.

Endoscopic root canal treatment entails a process during which, together with surgical instruments, a minute camera is inserted inside the patient's tooth during the course of treatment. The camera scans the treatment area and projects the image onto an LCD screen, thereby enabling a better view of the tooth's pulp tissue, side canals, and cracks within the root during the course of treatment.
