Mazda sales lead Delek Auto to higher profits

Mazda deliveries rose 11.5% over the corresponding quarter.

Delek Group Ltd. (TASE: DLEKG) subsidiary Delek Automotive Systems Ltd. (TASE: DLEA) today published its financial report for the third quarter of 2007. The Ford and Mazda importer posted a net profit of NIS 102.5 million, 43% more than for the corresponding quarter of 2006, even though revenue declined 0.4% to NIS 1.01 billion.

The cost of car sales totaled NIS 819.8 million in the third quarter, 8.2% less than in the corresponding quarter. Delek Auto will distribute a dividend of NIS 1 per share, for a total of NIS 90.6 million, which be paid in January.

Mazda deliveries totaled 6,131 during the third quarter, 11.5% more than during the corresponding quarter, but Ford deliveries fell be almost a third to 2,771. Delek Auto launched the new Mazda 6 models this week, and expects to repeat the success of the earlier models. The company reported 360 sales to private customers in the first two days. In January, the company will launch the Ford Edge SUV, which it has not previously marketed.
