Exalenz Bioscience Ltd. (TASE:EXEN) (formerly BreathID) has signed three distribution contracts in South Korea, Hong Kong, and Italy for the company's BreathID systems.
Top Care Korea Company Ltd. has undertaken to buy at least six BreathID systems and spare parts by the end of 2008. The agreement is for five years. Top Care will be responsible for obtaining the regulatory permits for the system in South Korea and provide installation and maintenance services in compliance with Exalenz guidelines. The companies will decide each year on the minimum purchases by Top Care for the following year in order to maintain its exclusive distribution rights in South Korea.
Top Care is a subsidiary of MKK, which represents Given Imaging Ltd. (Nasdaq: GIVN; TASE: GIVN) in South Korea.
In Hong Kong, MedCare Asia Ltd. has also undertaken to buy at least two BreathID systems and spare parts by the end of 2008. This contract is also for five years, and MedCare will be responsible for obtaining regulatory permits, and the installation and maintenance of the BreathID systems.
The company said that 9% of the population in South Korea and Hong Kong suffer from hepatitis B and half suffer from Helicobacter pylori, a bacteria in the stomach and duodenum, which is a cause of peptic ulcers, gastritis, duodenitis, and perhaps some cancer.
In Italy, Sofer SpA will have exclusive distribution rights subject to meeting the terms of the agreement with Exalenz. Sofer will distribute three BreathID gastroenterology applications which have EU CE Mark certification. Sofer has already ordered a number of BreathID systems and disposable parts for €65,000.
