iDigital to open Israel's first Apple Store

More Apple operating systems were sold in the past five months than in the previous five years combined.

"Apple brand sales in Israel have increased 2.8 times over the last five months," said iDigital Ltd. CEO Eran Tor at a press conference to unveil Apple's latest product, the MacBook Air notebook. iDigital is the local representative of Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) .

Tor added that more Apple operating systems have been sold in the five months since September 2007 than in the past five years combined. Sources inform ''Globes'' that this amounts to a few thousand units.

The Apple brand was previously imported by Yeda Computers and Software (Israel 1982) Ltd., which was acquired by iDigital in October. Apple users, who are known for their enthusiasm and their passion for the Apple brand, had repeatedly complained about Yeda's failure to provide service and sales and marketing support.

Tor promised that this would also change. "You needn't worry. The first Apple Store in Israel will open this year," he said, but declined to state when it would open and where.
