A strong shekel helps medicine prices go down

Prices of drugs will fall by 6.31%.

The shekel's appreciation against the dollar and euro has a positive medical side effect: prices of drugs will fall by 6.31% as of July 1. Ministry of Health Supervisor of Medicines Ruth Ralbag said today announced updates in the prices of most prescription preparations because the average change in the exchange rate since May 1 was more than 3%. Prices for both prescription and non-prescription drugs, as well as drugs not included in the basket of health services will go down.

Together with the earlier reduction in drug prices due to a change in the model, the price of drugs have fallen by 27%.

Minister of Health Yacov Ben-Yizri said, "This price reduction for drugs means millions of shekels in savings for the public. At a time when the prices for goods and services are rising, the price of drugs is falling."
