JumpTap lays off workers in Boston, Tel Aviv

The US-Israeli start-up has developed a search engine for mobile devices.

US-Israeli start-up JumpTap Inc. has joined the list of companies laying off employees both in Israel and abroad. Sources inform ''Globes'' that the intelligent search solutions developer recently fired 20 employees at its Boston headquarters and several more at its office in Tel Aviv. The layoffs are part of a restructuring plan.

JumpTap has not responded to the report.

JumpTap has developed a search engine for mobile devices, which can find cellular content, such as ringtones, images, and video clips. The company's solution targets cellular operators, and its business model is based on revenue sharing with the operator.

JumpTap's investors include Israeli venture capital fund Catalyst Investments LP, as well as US funds and strategic partners.
