Employees gain 15% pay hike at Perrigo's Caroline factory

Histadrut Negev District chairman Yossi Huber said, "At a time when the economy is in crisis, we've achieved a good contract. The employees will now have an incentive to work and invest all their efforts in the success and thriving of the factory".

The Histadrut (General Federation of Labor in Israel) today announced the signing of a new collective labor contract at the Caroline cosmetics plant in Yeruham owned by Perrigo Company (Nasdaq:PRGO; TASE:PRGO). Employees with seniority will get a 15% pay hike.

The news comes a week after "Globes" reported that employees of Nesher Israel Cement Enterprises Ltd., controlled by Nochi Dankner through IDB Holding Corp. Ltd. (TASE:IDBH) unit Clal Industries and Investments Ltd. (TASE: CII), will probably get a pay hike of 2-3%.

The Caroline workers will get the pay hike in four installments through April 2011. The contract shortens the probationary period for new employees to three years from four years before getting the same terms as senior employees.

Histadrut Negev District chairman Yossi Huber said, "At a time when the economy is in crisis, we've achieved a good contract. The employees will now have an incentive to work and invest all their efforts in the success and thriving of the factory."
