Wed: Energy rises ahead of Sheshinski vote

The TASE was in positive territory until news of a bomb exploding in Jerusalem sent indexes down sharply.

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) fell today. The Tel Aviv 25 Index fell 1% to 1,284.04 points, the Tel Aviv 100 Index fell 0.9% to 1,175.79 points, and the Tel-Tech Index fell 1.6% to 228.97 points. Turnover was NIS 1.9 billion.

The TASE was in positive territory from late morning until slightly after three, when news of a bomb exploding in Jerusalem sent indexes down sharply.

Leading the Tel Aviv 25 down today was Azrieli Group, which fell 3.2%. There was no specific news from the company.

Oil Refineries Ltd. (TASE:ORL) continued yesterday's weakness, and dropped 1.2%.

Mizrahi Tefahot Bank (TASE:MZTF) fell 1.2% after reporting a rise of 52% in full year profit for 2010 this morning. Bank Leumi (TASE: LUMI) fell 2.9%, as the Banks Index fell 2.4%.

Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Nasdaq: TEVA; TASE: TEVA) had the highest turnover today, at NIS 145 million, rising 2.3%.

The energy exploration sector attracted investor interest ahead of today's Finance Committee vote on Sheshinski legislation. Isramco Ltd. (Nasdaq: ISRL; TASE: ISRA.L) rose 2.2%, and Delek Energy Systems Ltd. (TASE: DEOL) rose 1.6%. Delek Drilling LP (TASE: DEDR.L) rose 0.7%, and Avner Oil and Gas LP (TASE: AVNR.L) was unchanged.

In the bond market, long-term Shahar unlinked government bonds fell by up to 0.1%, and long-term Galil CPI-linked bonds also fell by up to 0.1%. The corporate bond benchmark Tel-Bond 60 Index was unchanged.
