Gilat unit wins US gov't satellite services contract

The contract follows earlier wins for the US Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division and the NATO.

Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd. (Nasdaq: GILT; TASE: GILT) US subsidiary Spacenet Integrated Government Solutions Inc. (SIGS) has won its third US government contract to provide satellite communications services. The contract for the Future Commercial Satellite Communications program follows earlier wins for the US Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division and the NATO Consultation, Command, and Control Agency.

Gilat builds terminals for satellite communications. In the past two years, it has focused attention on the military market, and set up SIGS to target the US military market. As an authorized government supplier, SIGS can sell its products to US government agencies and NATO. SIGS CEO Susan Miller said, "Agencies of the US government and NATO will now have broader and easier access to SIGS' expertise and SATCOM products and services."

Gilat's share price opened at $3.28 on Nasdaq today, giving a market cap $134 million, after rising 4.1% on the TASE to NIS 12.51.
