Tue: Bezeq boosts TASE

Bezeq rose strongly after issuing its 2013 guidance on a good day for telcos.

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) rose today. The Tel Aviv 25 Index rose 0.79% to 1,205.01 points, the Tel Aviv 100 Index rose 0.95% to 1,073.73 points, and the BlueTech 50 Index rose 1.20% to 318.60 points. Turnover was NIS 765.3 million.

The TASE rose across the board today, in line with gains European markets and at the opening on Wall Street.

The TASE reported today that the average daily turnover was NIS 1.1 billion in January, 10% less than in December, but 5% more than in 2012 as a whole.

In the foreign currency market, the Bank of Israel set the shekel-dollar representative exchange rate at NIS 3.691/$, up 0.16% on Friday's rate, and set the shekel-euro representative exchange rate at NIS 5.00/€, up 0.08%

In the bond market, both long-term Shahar unlinked shekel government bonds and long term Galil CPI-linked government rose by up to 0.1%. The corporate bond benchmark Tel-Bond 20 Index rose 0.08%

In the stock market, Bezeq Israeli Telecommunication Co. Ltd. (TASE: BEZQ) rose 3.5% for the biggest gain among Tel Aviv 25 shares, after reaffirming its guidance for 2012 and announcing its guidance for 2013. Mobile carriers Cellcom Israel Ltd. (NYSE:CEL; TASE:CEL) and Partner Communications Ltd. (Nasdaq: PTNR; TASE: PTNR) rose 0.8% and 0.1%, respectively.

Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NYSE: TEVA; TASE: TEVA) rose 1.5% and Perrigo Company (Nasdaq:PRGO; TASE:PRGO) rose 0.9%.

Israel Chemicals Ltd. (TASE: ICL) rose 0.1% on the day's biggest turnover of NIS 50 million.

Elbit Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: ESLT; TASE: ESLT) fell 1.9% for the biggest loss among Tel Aviv 25 shares.

Mellanox Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq:MLNX; TASE:MLNX) rose 0.3% and EZchip Semiconductor Ltd. (Nasdaq: EZCH; TASE:EZCH) rose 2.3%, but NICE Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: NICE; TASE: NICE) fell 0.7%>

On the Tel Aviv 100 Index, Allot Communications Ltd. (Nasdaq:ALLT; TASE: ALLT) rose 5.7%, after publishing its financials, and Protalix Biotherapeutics Inc. (AMEX:PLX; TASE: PLX) jumped 19.3% on reports that Pfizer Inc. (NYSE: PFE; LSE: PFZ) was interested in acquiring the company, and its parent company, Biocell Ltd. (TASE: BCEL) rose 35.2%.

Also in the life sciences, Can-Fite BioPharma Ltd. (TASE:CFBI; Bulletin Board: CANFY) rose 5.6%, after its secondary offering, InsuLine Medical Ltd. (TASE: INSL) fell another 7% on top of yesterday's 9% drop, and Biocancell Therapeutics Ltd. (TASE:BICL) rose another 13.1% on top of yesterday's 52% jump.

Ashot Ashkelon Industries Ltd. (TASE: ASHO) rose 6.5% on a large US contract, and Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd. (Nasdaq: GILT; TASE: GILT) rose 2.3% on a Mexican contract.
