Mon: EZchip falls sharply on flat market

EZchip fell 4.9% on a negative arbitrage gap, but Teva rose on the day's biggest turnover.

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) dipped today. The Tel Aviv 25 Index fell 0.02% to 1,236.98 points, the Tel Aviv 100 Index fell 0.13% to 1,101.51 points, and the BlueTech 50 Index fell 0.65% to 312.45 points. Turnover was NIS 788.1 million.

The TASE fell slightly today, after seesawing around its starting levels throughout the day, in line mixed sessions on European markets and losses at the opening on Wall Street.

In the foreign currency market, the Bank of Israel set the shekel-dollar representative exchange rate at NIS 3.69/$, down 0.14% on Friday's rate, and set the shekel-euro representative exchange rate at NIS 4.797/€, down 0.86%.

In the bond market, long-term Shahar unlinked shekel government were unchanged, long term Galil CPI-linked government ranged between losses of 0.5% and gains of 0.1%. The corporate bond benchmark Tel-Bond 20 Index fell 1.15%.

In the stock market, EZchip Semiconductor Ltd. (Nasdaq: EZCH; TASE:EZCH) fell 4.9% on a negative arbitrage gap, for the biggest loss among Tel Aviv 25 shares, for the second straight day. Its high-tech peers on the index, Mellanox Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq:MLNX; TASE:MLNX) and NICE Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: NICE; TASE: NICE) fell 0.4% and 0.5%, respectively.

Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NYSE: TEVA; TASE: TEVA) rose 0.5% on the day's biggest turnover of NIS 55 million.

Israel Chemicals Ltd. (TASE: ICL) was unchanged ahead of the publication of its financials on Wednesday. Its sister company Oil Refineries Ltd. (TASE:ORL) rose 2.3% for the biggest gain among Tel Aviv 25 shares, while its peer on the index, Paz Oil Company Ltd. (TASE:PZOL) rose 1.3%.

The two banks named as DS Brokerage's stock picks, Mizrahi Tefahot Bank (TASE:MZTF) rose 1.1% and Bank Hapoalim (TASE: POLI) rose 0.5%. Bank Leumi (TASE: LUMI) fell 0.2%.

On the Tel Aviv 100 Index, the Insurance Index fell 1.1%, led by a 3.5% drop by The Phoenix Holdings Ltd. (TASE: PHOE1;PHOE5).

Also on the index, Tower Semiconductor Ltd. (Nasdaq: TSEM; TASE: TSEM) rose 7.7%, after announcing that it was expanding its share in a multibillion-dollar market, and Kamada Ltd. (TASE: KMDA) rose 1.9%, the day after publishing strong financials.
