GTECH Israel office fires most employees

GTECH International currently provides its online systems to 50 countries around the world.

GTECH, which supplied Mifal Hapayis - Israel National Lottery with online computer systems for sending lottery forms, recently laid off most of its employees, who were hired through a manpower agency. After the Mifal Hapayis system was installed, the employees were no longer needed.

GTECH management confirmed the report, noting that the company was moving to smaller offices in Tel Aviv. The company now has only two employees; US employees of the parent company will provide support for the systems. GTECH formerly had 12 employees in Israel. The company said some of its former employees had found work with Mifal Hapayis.

GTECH International currently provides its online systems to 50 countries around the world and 30 states in the US. It also manages the lottery by itself in some countries. GTECH recently signed deals in Ireland and Taiwan.
