Veritas Israel is providing computer security and database back-ups to the Palestinian Authority (PA), as part of its disaster recovery planning (DRP) solutions. The products provided are meant to go into operation in case initial infrastructures collapse.
Veritas Israel country manager Daniel Daniel said the company had been providing the DRP systems to the PA and to private companies operating in the PA for the past year. He added, “The moment the Israel Defense Forces bombs the PA, it must be ready for the crash of its computer systems. We sell the systems mostly to the Palestinian Ministry of Communications and to private telephone companies operating in the PA, such as Palestine Cellular Communications (Jawal) and PalTel Palestine Telecommunications Company (Itisalat).”
Daniel declined to state how much Veritas Israel sold to the PA, but noted that sales of DRP products in Israel and around the world had risen substantially in the first three quarters.
Veritas Software (Nasdaq: VRTS), considered one of the world’s leading software firms, deals with database infrastructure management. The company has operated in Israel since 1993, and set up a local subsidiary last year. Its customers in Israel include Comverse Technology(Nasdaq:CMVT), Emblaze Systems (LSE: BLZ), Intel Israel, El-Op Electro-Optics Industries, Bank Hapoalim (LSE:BKHD; TASE:POLI), Bank Leumi (TASE:LUMI), Leumi Card, Cellcom, Partner Communications (Nasdaq: PTNRLSE:PCCD), Bezeq (TASE:BZEQ), Egged, and Arkia Airlines. At the beginning of the year, Veritas completed its acquisition of Israeli company Precise Software Solutions Ltd. for over $600 million.
