20% of Jewish children live in poverty

Central Bureau of Statistics: 54% of Israeli-Arab children live below the poverty line.

20.4% of Jewish children and 54.4% of Israeli-Arab children live below the poverty line, according to the Central Bureau of Statistics "Israel 2003" social survey, published today.

The report focuses on selected comparative welfare, education, health, employment, and economic indicators between Israel Jewish and Arab populations. The report states that over Arab communities comprise over 70% of all poor communities in Israel, defined as the bottom three socio-economic clusters. In contrast, all the communities in the top four socio-economic clusters are Jewish.
