One killed, 20 injured in Tel Aviv terror attack

The attack was the first within the Green Line in four months. One of the injured is a pregnant woman.

An explosion at a bus stop in South Tel Aviv this morning left one woman dead and about twenty people injured. One of the injured is a pregnant woman, who was teken to Tel Aviv's Ichilov Hospital, where her condition is described as severe to very severe.

The explosion occurred at about 7:00 this morning. The Ynet website reports that the police say a fairly small bomb was hidden near the bus stop on Har Zion Boulevard, near the old central bus station. A number 26 bus that halted at the bus stop at the time of the explosion was damaged.

The Al-Aqsa Brigades organization, the military arm of the Fatah, announced that it was responsible for planting the bomb.

This morning's terrorist bomb explosion is the first within the Green Line for four moths. The last one was at the Ashdod port. Nevertheless, the security services constantly report attempted attacks that have been thwarted.

Today's incident comes two days after the International Court of Justice at The Hague ruled that the security fence Israel is building between itself and the West Bank Palestinians should be dismantled. Prime Minister Ariel Sharon is due to hold a discussion on the court's decision this morning.
